Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
Re: Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
Yep. I have +38 offset, all the way around. I can't get my index finger inbetween the struts and the inside edge of my rim on the fronts, but remember I have 8.5in wheels. In the rear, I have 1 to 1.5 inches between the rim and the strut, which falls right in line with what some guys are doing in the rear (9.5 or 10 inch wheels). I tried to take a picture, but with nothing to reference, it's kinda pointless....

Re: Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
thanks for the pic...
so there is more room in the back (on the inside i mean) then the front. I better not get anything wider than 8.5 inches with +38 offset. That is very helpful, thanks! I was gonna go with 8.5 in teh front and +44 offset - those won't fit then!!!!
But I guess you have over an inch in the back! That's good. I guess I will go with an 8 and 9 configuration, or 8.5 and 9.5 configuration!
What about the lining with the fenders! Is it outside of the [inside edge] of the fender lip?
Thanks a million

I've been trying to take a picture of the outer edge of the wheels and the fender, but I'm not that good with a camera. If I take a picture straight down the car, you don't see the wheels at all. I have to "lean out" a little bit...

That's what I've been trying to take a picture of! I would say I have a 1/4 to 3/8 of and inch between the tire and the inside fender well, both front and back. Some other guys have had very slight rubbing issues (but it wasn't rubbing on the actual metal fender) with the same setup when they went with lowering springs. All in all, you'd have to go a little less "aggressive" (meaning keeping the wheels further away from the outer fender) if you wanted to lower your car, or maybe stick with 8in. wide wheels in the front and 9 or maybe 9.5in. in the back.

perect pic
just want i needed to see.
Ya my car i already lowered, so I would need to go with a +44 offset at least to not rub at all.
Thanks again for the pic.

Re: Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
Hi,
My dumb question is that do I need to determine what my offset is before purchasing a set of wheels? Can offset be adjusted after the wheels are purchased? What my offset would be if I am going 18X8.5 front and 18X9.5 rear or 19X8.5front and 19X9.5. Thank you.

Hey
offset is a specification of the wheel. it is the distance in millimeters between the wheel centerline and the rear of the mount plate (the inside face of mount holes that sit up against the rotor). The smaller the offset, as you can see, the more the wheel sticks out. THe coupe and 350z fenders are very wide, so "extreme" or "aggressive" fitments (i.e. low offsets) are possible. The sedan is not so extreme. In fact, I am thinking that the 8.5 and 9.5 wis the most that will fit the sedan. But be careful, you saw our gakid's comment/pictures. THere is very little room left in the front with an 8.5" +38 wheel. AM I right here gakid? BUt htere is room in the back. So, I would go with 8.5 in the front +3 8 offset and 9.5 with a yet to be calculated offset.
gakid, please verify the accuracy of what I said. Thanks a lot.

Sounds good to me. I would imagine enough offset in the rear to take up the additional width of a 9.5in wheel would look pretty sweet. Some guys have already done it.

So after reading this post, (correct me if I'm wrong) but I can fit 18X8.5 5-114.3 38SM on my sport sedan all the way around?
By the way, what do you think about thsese rims

I'm using the following setup with a +45 offset:
Axis Supermesh with Nitto NT555
Front: 19x8.5 (245/35/19)
Rear: 19.9.5 (275/30/19)
No rubbing. Tire comes to the edge of the fender. Very agressive looking.
