Hi, I've had the TSB done for my rear brakes at ~4000 miles, at ~9000 miles it squeak again, brought it to my dealer they said it was normal, now ~12000 it still squeaking. Once and for all, is it normal?

 

There is a compound you can put on some part of your brakes that stops squealing.. try the search..but i dont remember the name off the top of my head.

 

It's called stop squeal, and it goes on the back of your brake pads.

Thanks for the info guys, so that mean I need to remove the brake pads to apply this? Wonder if the dealer would do it for me for free?

 

My wife had been telling me that our (her) G35s is squeaking also.

Is there any fix for this? or should I just buy the stuff and spray it on our rear break?

One more data point: my brakes don't squeak at all (yet), at 4500mi.

The compounds you put on the back of the brake pads does need to go on with your pads removed. Typically it goes between the pad and the shim that contacts the caliper.

gster... i think the TSB that tkman is referring to is the one that you already had done -- out since january 2003 and it applies to sedans/coupes (non-brembos). i took my G in today for the squealing and they replaced my rears with a new infiniti "brake pad kit." my service guy explained all of this to me. shoot, i hope mine don't start squealing again. Our G35s has around 8.5K miles on it. Is this still under warranty or will they tell me that is just normal use?

Since TSB is not a recall what exactly are they required to do for free.

I had the TSB done on my coupes rear pads at my first service at 3700 mi. By 5000 mi. they were squeeking again -mostly when I back-up. I will mention it when I go in for the 7500 service.
By the way, a squeek does not mean anything is necessarily wrong. It is just irritating. But that being said, there are obviously some brake issues with this car as evidenced by the new Infiniti policy of covering brakes under warranty for 3/36. LOL after that runs out!

 

I called Infiniti of Tustin, CA about this. They told me that the current TSB is no longer valid since replacing the pad does not really solve the problem. Infiniti is aware of this problem and is looking for a more permanent solution. Till then, they consider it as normal.

 

gsg... so you hear the squeal all the time or often? i told my service guy that i hear a squeal "every now and then" (about 4 times total in less than a month) when i'm on an incline so i asked him to check the brakes (yeah, i was paranoid). he called and told me about the TSB and went ahead and used that brake kit (yesterday, 11/19). i have about 9300 on my car.
