Very cool. Don't recognize your sn from the .org, but hello anyways.

I was an old timer at the .org -- posted under Redline. Have not been there in awhile.

Thought I'd update this thread after my first ~4k miles on the T1-Rs.

Finally got to drive in some serious rain -- tires resisted hydroplaning well on the highway -- similar to my personal benchmark, the GY Eagle F1 GSD3.

Yes, these tires ride "softer" than the OEM Bridgestones -- but ultimate grip is comparable when you push them. The difference is most obvious at turn in, where the Bridgestones had a more 1:1 response to steering input, the T1-Rs have a little give before they grip -- this takes a little getting used to, but isn't really a big deal to me becasue I feel the ultimate grip is similar.

I prefer the softer ride, as this car is my daily driver and any perceived compromise in grip is offset buy the improved ride. The tires are also nice and quiet -- another bonus for a daily driver. No wear issues to report.

Overall, no complaints -- these fit my needs well. YMMV.

Thanks for the update! Sounds like similar overall dry handling as the Goodyear benchmark, am I correct? Goodyear = slightly softer sidewalls than the Bridgestone but similar overall grip?

Here's what I'm looking at:

TOYO Proxes T1R 225 40ZR19 93Y (front)

TOYO Proxes T1R 245 40ZR19 98Y (rear)

2 Newbe questions.
1.) Can someone tell me what the "ZR" and the "93Y/98Y" stand for on these specific tires?
2.) Would there be any benefit to going to a 255 or greater in the rear other then just looks?

Thanks in advance.

The ZR is the speed rating and the 93Y/98Y is the load rating. Both explained in detail on the TireRack.com website.

I kept the stock sizes, as you have specified -- no compelling reason to change them.

i had my toyo's t1-r for 500 miles now. besides everything good thats been said in this thread, i found them to be considerablely cheaper than the other tires. plus they look great. why would anyone go with anything else (this is purely a question)? tire experts feel free to chime in.

yeah, I'm impressed. I got 12K on my OEM Bridgestones. I now have T1-Rs as well, and since the treadwear is significantly higher, I'm hoping I'll get more miles on them.

Ah. I should have been more clear--sorry about that...I was looking for more of a comparison with the Goodyears in the category of dry handling. I've driven those Goodyears once (yes, limited experience) and liked them quite a bit.

Fronts had reasobable tread left -- rears could have gone longer, but I couldn't stand how loud they were.

Cool

I am running T1-R;s on my 19's. I hated them until they were about half worn down. Now they work great.

I just stuck a set of these on my 18" track wheels....Azenis RT-615.
They are loud...but stick like glue.

9/07 Update: The T1-R's have 12k on them and the rears have surprisingly little tread left. Keep in mind that these are just daily driving miles -- no smokey burnouts and the car has never been to the track.

The fronts look to have plenty of tread left -- enough that if I put new ones on the back today, my next change would end up being all 4.

I'll have to admit I'm a bit disappointed in the wear.

I didn't like these tires enough to buy them again. I wish there were more choices in the OEM 19 sizes. Most likely, I will try something new.
