06 coupe. got a flat in the middle of nowhere!

so im driving up from san diego to the bay on the 5. I hear this loud noise..sounded like a flat tire. I slowed down toc check things out..but car wasnt pulling..didnt sound like i had a flat..so i figure things where ok. slowly sped back up figuring i ran over something and probably will be pissed when i see the damage but no point in stopping. few mins later a car pass me up and points at my wheel so obviously i instantly knew what was up. i pull over..and THEN obviously notice my tire pressure light...never seen it before so wasnt really looking for it..forgot about TPS dammit!!. so i throw on the spare ( rear left tire)..go to the next exit and found a tire shop thank god... Thoughti could get the tire patched up but i since i rode on it for a bit i ruined the tire ( 8 months old)!!!! DAMMIT. so they happened to have one tire in stock that would fit but it was a 35 rather than a 40 .. so basically i had no choice being 200 miles from home... so i bought the tire and continued on..

so what im wondering now is should i just buy the right size tire now ore replace the other rear tire with the same size.. how much of a difference is it making???

I'd bite the bullet and get the right size tire.
