Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

No comments specifically. I haven't tried them yet. But from what I read, either one of these in a 225/55R17 is most likely going to be my next set of shoes.

At this point I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone, only because I like the way the tread pattern looks better.

I wanna know what people says about both before I make a decision. I know the F1 has super traction on dry and wet but I dont know how it compares to S03. I also wanna know the comfort level, tread life .............

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

Nothing but positives on the S03's...I had 2 sets on my 540. I got between 17-20K on them, so poor tread life but that is to be expected. Great in wet/dry/and condition except snow. A light dusting of snow put me in the neighbors front yard last year. I may try the F1's next just to be different, so no experience with them.

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

I can't give you a comparison as I only have the F1's, but I can tell you however that the F1's are awesome. I've had them on my sedan for about 8000 miles and through 10 autocrosses. In the rain they handle incredibly too. Road noise was reduced from the stock tires and they feel more comfortable as well. They also look agressive as hell! I can't say anything bad about them. I've been consistently in the top 4 in autocross despite all the competitors on Falken Azenis, and they can forget about it if it's wet. This last weekend was a very wet autocross (we're talking downpours) and I came in first by about a second and a half mostly because of the F1's.

the performance of the F1 should be similar if not better than the S03. The F1 also has a better threadlife of 280 or 300 compare to SO3's 220.

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

No personal experience... but from what I read, the SO3 is a very heavy tire when compared to the F1. For this reason alone I am going to get F1s when I replace my tires.

I believe the SO3 are a little less expensive but not by much (at least when I was pricing them... and probable depends on size).

Comparing tread rating from two different companaies is like comparing apples to oranges. Only actual use on the same car will determine actual tread life in comparison to each other.

Just my .02

1FUNG is right, treadware ratings are comparable only within the manufacturer. I also believe the S03 to be a heavy tire... comparing to the Pilot Sports that came off my car they seemed quite a bit heavier.

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

I'm running s03's right now. They're great. I can't compare it to the stock michelin pilots because it's a totally different size. I'm running 285/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front.

My stock 18's never really grabbed the ground. With this setup I can't complain. Control and traction on dry ground is great.

Traction in the rain is great too. I only slid once and it was on a declined decending radius turn that I took to fast. I don't think it was even because I was going to fast on the turn, I hit the breaks on a solid white line. Even though I slid I still had control. The road feedback is great, you know when the tires are about to slide.

It is true though, they are a little noisy. They weigh more then my rims, but I kind of expect that from that much rubber.

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

The reason I am comparing the 2 is becoz I want a good ride with a sidewall that isnt too soft when I am doing some performance driving. I know the F1 got good traction but I don't know if its too soft. I know the S03 performs very well but I don't know if it lasts long and if it has a stiff ride.

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

I did research before I bought tires. Honestly I didn't read about the f1's or even look them up.

The good wear life on the S03's were partially why I bought them.

Every article I read mentioned how they had good tread life. I was hesitant to ever try them after the big Expedition/Firestone issue .

My experience with Bridgestone over all has been good. Even their battleaxe series for motorcycles is good. I bought some of their semi track tires bt012rr's and they have lasted longer then any street tire, warm up fast and just as sticky as race tires on street riding.

good luck deciding sorry I can only give you the S03 side.

Here's some actual testings from tirerack. It has f1 vs. s03 stuff.

That review indicates that the tires are very close to each other in nearly all categories, and a person would probably be equally happy with either choice.

By the way, Tirerack has a $75 reabate on a set of 4 Eagle F1's. I just received the email today.
