Yokohama ES100 review

Thanks for all the tire suggestions, but I went with Yokohama ES100 (245/45-18) for my '05 sedan. These replaced the factory Goodyear NCT's.

First impression, as they were installing them: Hmmm, these are kinda big, with aggressive looking tread. I'm not sure I like them.

One week old impression: Hmmm, these don't look so bad. They ride softer than the Goodyear, with less initial bite in the corner. The sidewalls are softer, and I don't have quite as much confidence throwing it into a corner. But they are quieter than the G/Y, and they ride smoother over the cracks and crevices in the road.

I haven't driven them yet in a hard rain, just in a light rain. So I'm not sure how they will handle lots of water on the road, but they seemed a little more slippery on damp roads than I expected.

Overall, for the price, they seem like a good tire. I'm getting used to the look of being slightly wider, and I like the slightly smoother ride. Bottom line, I'd recommend them.

Currently i have these tires on my 18' too. But unfortunately, I think I would get about 16K out of them, not what I expected. My previous Michelin sport last about the same! Weird, I ran the treadwear report from Tirerack.com, the Yoko score the higher treadwear. I dont know if we can compare the treadwear from one brand of tire to another brand or these treatwear score is standard for all the tire brand?? Yes, they are not really good in rain but they are about $100 cheaper than my other Michelin sport. Hmmmmm

I had these tires once. I liked them. No complaints at all. I'd buy them again but I don't think they come in 19.
