18, 19, or 20?

I still can't figure out what's better. I think i am opting for the 19 inch, but would i have to lower the car? I have also read good things about 20s... please tell me something good.

20s are a real headache cuz you have to remember every little bump and hole on the road. But they will look awesome!

Personally, I think I'm going to go for 20s and then add a bodykit rather than lowering. Not quite sure yet, but I think 20s with a significant drop are going to rub.

I say 20's or maybe 19's. You don't have to lower your car with a 245/35/20 or 245/40/19.

G35inKC,

Do you have a coupe or sedan?

The sedan doesnt look good with 20's. It might look better if you get all the lower moldings painted to match the car, but if you dont, 20's will look completely out of proportion to the sedan. It makes it look like a truck.

The coupe is bigger and the arches are wider. Since there's no black molding under the bumpers or sides, it makes the car look lower as well. 20's look very good on the coupe and the arches hug them well, unlike the sedan. 19's look OK, but it will probably look like it needs to be lowered.

Whatever size you get, get some bigger rotors... the stock rotors look lame with big rims...

I have a black coupe. And yeah, i was thinking about getting some bigger rotors also, to fill in the space a little better. If i do got with 19s do you guys think it would look funny if i didn't lower it?

damn boogie, that would definitely need 20's by looking at it like that. or need to be lowered. maybe you can find a rim that has a 19's center along with a 19's lip so that the middle doesn't look so small.

It's not my car, so I'm not worrying about it. I'll be getting 20's if I decide to get wheels.

You posted pictures of a coupe on 19's that need to be lowered badly and suggest that it could use 20's, but that same theory doesn't apply to a sedan because it doesn't have painted sills? That's just plain dumb. My wheels are exactly .5 inches taller than the stock 17's (26.7 vs. 26.3) and so now it looks like a truck? Unbelieveable....

Re: 18, 19, or 20?

gaklid,

The coupe w/ 19's is not my car. I was simply posting the pic to show that w/ 19's on the coupe, it needs to be lowered.

Yes, a sedan w/ 20's looks like its too high off the ground... compare these two cars w/ 20's, same wheels (just one is chrome)

If the sedan's lower side/bumper moldings were painted it would look 100% better, IMO. I dont mean to **** you off, but some people cant take contructive criticism.

I agree with the above post...

I have 19s on my car with 245/35/19 potenza so-3's.... I really wish i had 20s now... the 19s look a bit small to me somtimes but othertimes they dont... anyways... all in all i would prefer 20s.... Anyone wanna buy my rims so i can get 20s? *eg*

First of all, the sedan you're posting pictures of is my car. The pictures simply make the wheels too big because you can't see the tires. Just like the coupe you posted with 19's (I never said it was your car, I saw those pics on Cardomain, too), the camera makes the gap in between the tire and the fender look bigger than what it is, just like you don't see the unpainted part of the sill on my car. It's just the way the picture came out. Notice how much "whiter" or "brighter" my car looks in my pic? Too much contrast. I think the biggest difference between both pictures is the angle from which they were taken. kkh713x (the white coupe) has the same wheels, but he now has 275/35/20's in the back to compensate for the stagger. I don't know if he has those tires on in that picture, though. Anyway, I'll try to take some better pictures that accurately portray what 20's really look like on a sedan. I see how you could form your opinion from looking at the pictures, but you should really see either 19's or 20's in real life to get the real view...
