mixing tire brands?

I nee new rear oem 19" bridgestones, fronts are in good shape. if I go to the same 19" oem size but a different brand and thread pattern for the rears, will it confuse the vdc? thanks for any feedback

As long as the tires you get are the same class of tires, you should be fine...

So if you have the stock summer tires on front, then the rears should also be summer tires. It's when you start mixing summers with all/seasons, or Max Performance with UltraHighPerformance, etc, when you start running into problems.

thanks for the reply, if I change brands on the rears they will still be the same ultramax summer performance as the front 19" potenzas so I should be OK.

I did the same thing about a month ago. I needed new rear tires but potenzas are on national back order so i just got some pirellis and I've had no problem with the VDC.

im running a new par of S03's (car has S03's all around) and slippery as
hell the first 100miles.

does not have to be brand or model oriented, but make sure you break-in
your tires well. it takes a few hundred miles if driven normally. keep your
VDC on.

TireRack will tell you..................

The TireRack will tell you that it's not a good idea to have diffrent tred
patterns front to back! But, why would you want to continue buying junk
tires like Bridgestones? You should be getting 30K miles from you tires but
you won't with these tires.....tred wear rating is 140 and you shouldn't buy
tires that have less than 220 to 240 and a traction rating of AA. Either go
with Michelins, BFGs or Goodyears with these ratings! Call TireRack and
ask them....but don't forget to mention what I've told you.....wear 240
and traction AA!

if you're running in the wet then often times it's better to have
the same tread pattern. but considering these are FR and use wider
tires in the rear (given that you're running staggered) there's really no
NEED to use the same tires (front/rear) unless you need repeatibility
so that you can adjust other parts of the sus to dial-in your car's
handling setup.

i buy from tirerack often and like them, but they will also state to run
new tires in the back because theoretically it grips better and prevents
spin outs. VERY INCORRECT STATEMENT especially on FR cars. you
want new tires on the front if you are running same size tires. tires
that are broken in will not slip like brand new tires with lots of release
lube still on them. on FF cars, maybe you might want to run new tires
on the back.

"junk tires like bridgestones because they don't last 30k miles?" hahaha
that's wat most kids say running ecnoboxes cause they can't afford
real tires. why not downgrade to a corolla and get some 500AA tires?
lol

How are the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS? Just curious, I was thinking about getting those to replace my Pilot Sport A/S.

You'll be just fine, as long as you get the right sizes to stay in spec. Make sure they are the same L/R though.
