I'd recommend Potenza Re-01R if you are high hp and the weight isnt all that big deal. They grip like nothing you have ever seen.

yeah, but they also wont last you over 10,000 miles, even with the occasional spirited daily driving. The RE-01R was made by Bridgestone as a street/drift tire for the import market and for autoX'ing.
But yes, they will grip like no other DOT compliant street tire out there.

ok just got back from the shop, new tires are the falken 452's....im am happy with them, ride is smooth and grip is good....ended up going with 245/40-19 on a 8.5 width rim up front and 275/40-19 on a 9.5 width rear....offers enough protection from curbing and should be able to withstand new york roads........i hope.

If you get a chance post a closeup picture of the tire on the wheel. I'd like to see how much protection the lip has.

Wow....I think the complete opposite!!! This is so subjective based on driving styles and car set up.
I went fron 18" T1-S's to 19" T1-R's.....and thought the T1-R's sucked! The sidewalls felt too soft to me.
But after they were worn about half way down......they started to stick like glue. I bumped the pressure up to 39f & 38r and they feel excellent now.
They seem pretty good in the wet.
