OK, here's another wheel fitment question for you..
I'm looking at a set of wheels, and I'm confused about the offset that will work on my 03 Sedan.
The sizes I'm looking at are:
17x7 with 45mm offset
17x7 with 38mm offset
17X8 with 38mm offset
From the way I read the owners manual, only the 45mm offset will work. Is this right??
If the 38mm offset will work, can I still use the stock 225/55 tires with the 17x8?

 

17x7 with 45 offset is standard. The owner's manual doesn't say anything about whether or not anything else will fit. I'm not sure about what effects the 38mm offset will have on fitment, other than it's moving the wheel 7mm into the car.

The stock tires size is 215/55R17, not 225/55R17. The info I can find on the stock 215/55 tires says they fit on up to a 7.5" rim. If you do actually have 225/55's, they'll fit on the stock 7" rim and on 8" rims. (There are better tire choices available in this size, anyway.)

+38mm will move the wheel farther out from the car than +45mm.

It's the measure between the center point and the mounting surface on the rim. A smaller offset moves the mounting point closer to the center of the rim, which moves the rim back into the wheel well.

I don't understand that diagram at all--but I do know that a +30 offset sticks out further than a +45.

Thanks for the info. I visited Discount Tire Direct (site sponsor) and they list 17" wheels with offsets ranging from 35mm to 45mm. Based on this, it would seem that a 38mm offset should work.

I've read a lot of posts about wheel brands, but I don't think I have seen any for MOMO wheels.
Any thoughts on this brand??
