Hey guys... I was on my way to work this morning and I noticed that the TPMS sensor was on. It was only 5 degrees this morning so I was wondering if anyone has noticed theirs coming on when the weather gets very cold. This is my first winter with my G and it's been educational so far!

 

yea that sensor will go off- mine was educational also my first winter, i ended up taking air OUT of my tires thinking i was over inflated, but you need to add air, keep it around 35psi if im not mistaken

 

Also, when it gets cold out, your air pressure will drop for sure. I think I remember someone saying every 5 degrees the air temp drops, your tires will go down 1psi. Not sure how correct that it but it seems logical.

Does anyone know what the tolerance is on these sensors that will make them go off?

 

IIRC, if the tire pressure drops below 30 psi, they will set off the indicator.

Mine haven't gone off and it got down to 0 degrees this morning. My TPMS won't go off unless the tire pressure falls below 30 psi. Since I check my tire pressure bi-weekly, no problems. BTW I checked my TPMS a couple of months ago by reducing my tire pressure to 29 psi. I drove about a half mile and I heard this alarm go off for about 5 secs and then I saw the icon appear on my dashboard. I pumped the tire back to 35 psi, and after another half mile ride the icon disappeared.

 

Hey Guys,
A month ago it was doing this and I went to get my oil changed and the guy told me that 3 of the tires were low so he filled them all. Now its back, and my sensor has been going on and off the last few weeks and not sure if its a faulty sensor or if I have a nail or something. Any input on this can help. I went today and checked the tires cold and all are at about 35 -37psi. And lately, it seems that the sensor has been going off after I drive about 20 miles or so, which makes less sense to me since the psi would be higher. So that also leads me to the question, does the sensor go off when the psi is over 40 (the tire says thats the max)?

I guess as an FYI...I live in Miami, so not worried about any snow around here

 

Extreme cold apparently makes mine go off even if the tire pressure is okay.

 

It has been around the teens (temp wise) around DC, and the TPMS starts going crazy, especially in the morning. It will go off for a little while, then cut off and then eventually turn on again. I just checked my tire pressure last week and it was fine. I guess it the weather.
