Thumbs up Tire Selection

The time has come to change the poor Goodyear Eagle GS-Ds that came with my 2004 G35 sedan. At 22,000 miles, I consider them a tremendous tire since I have done three track days on them (Nashville Motor Speedway and Carolina Motorsports Park) as well as much irresponsible street antics. They are quiet and still rather grippy.

I think I have narrowed my search to the following...unless I can find a set of those awesome 18" forged wheels with sufficient tread that my wife won't suspect are thrashed. Appreciate any experience you might share. Yeah, I am adding a little width from the stock 215/55 dimension but not that much.

  • BF Goodrich g-Force Sport - 225/55ZR-17
  • Continental ContiSportContact 2 - 235/50ZR17
  • Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval - 235/50ZR17
  • Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 - 235/50ZR17

Cheers!

I had not checked into the Toyos. The T1-R looks much like the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. Looks like similar wear and grip ratings too. See 225/55 17s for $137 at tiresavings.com. May have to look into that some more. Thanks!!
