New wheels for drag setup ** Updated
After contemplating various wheels for a drag setup over the past year, I have settled on Enkei Or52's. Edgeracing has them, size 16x7, 5x114.3, 38mm offset for $79 a piece. I purchased two, which with shipping charges of ~$8 per wheel, means total it was $175 shipped to my door(from Miami to Birmingham).
These are not the best looking wheels, but I don't care what the drag wheels look like. These wheels are only 16lbs a piece, which amounts to a savings of 7.4lbs per rear wheel compared to my current wheels. I plan on mating BFG DR's to these, sized 255/50/16, which will just barely fit on a 7 inch rim. These tires are also 1 pound lighter per tire than the kumho's I'm currently running. That means I'll be saving ~8.5 pounds per driven wheel with this wheel+tire setup at the drag strip. These tires are also marginally shorter than the stock tire height: 26.1 inches versus 26.3 inches.
When I called edgeracing, the operator was concerned with fitment until I mentioned these were going over the rears. But just to make sure, I asked if I could return the wheels if they didn't fit, and his response was "sure, as long as you haven't mounted a tire to them." So I'm covered if they indeed do not fit over the rears.
