Volk Wheels...HELP!!! Please

Okay, I have brand new Volk Racing SF Winnings and I have a 3 inch knick on my chrome lip. I went to a rim repair shop and they asked if these were ionized. I do not know, but I think they are. Can these rims be repaired??

G35Driver Admin, please do not move, I tried posting in the correct forum and did not get any responses!

They are anodized so most rim repair shops will not touch it. Best thing to do is replace the outer rim with a new one.

Re: Volk Wheels...HELP!!! Please

I did the same thing with my rims. First of all, at least with my rims, my lip are polished. It may looked chrome, but after a few emails with Zigen they told me my lip was polished and ionized. I'm guessing that your lip is polished and clear coated. Just call Volk and ask if it is ionized too. Just last month I hit a pot hole and now my rim has a curb rash and a dent. Good news is it is on the same rim.

Anyways I didn't have a chance to unmount them and get them fix, cause I'm super low in cash right now. But I am going send my rims to get repaired next year at rimrepair.com since I can drive down to their shop.

If that is true.. Well that sucks. I guess I'll just live with it and not fix the my rims.

I'm tired of babying my G35.

Re: Volk Wheels...HELP!!! Please

What is the difference between a wheel that is ionized and polished and one that is polished and clear coated? I would assume that clear coat is the best because it would protect the wheel the best (brake dust won't stick, better for scratches, etc).... Why would some wheels come ionized? Excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, but this is something to consider when purchasing rims.

Re: Volk Wheels...HELP!!! Please

actually the I think the correct word is anodized. It's suppose to make the rim more durable?

Clear coat is different. It just protects the rim.
