Tire Feathering

So I heard this roaring sound at low speeds and also when braking.... It's unbearable.... my car has 27k miles. but since i used snow tires. I probably only put 17k miles on the 19 inches stock summer tires.

I made an appointment with the dealership next monday, I am expecting the dealership will say, that I need new front tires. That's like $600 bucks installed.

What else can I do guys? am I so unlucky to have this problem, as many of you don't have this issue. Help!!!

i have this problem. i have feathering, but tire roar isn't much of an issue yet. i also run winter tires. what can u do? not much after the fact. i'm trading my car in this year for something different. so i'm just gonna live with the problem and let some other poor soul deal with it.

i was at 27k when the feathering/road noise got to much. buy the tires urself and have the deal install them if u dont trust other installers...but dont buy the tires at the dealer... they charge wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much

p.s. i got 4 toyos from edge racing online for $800 shipped

Ya, I thought about trade it in for the 08 G37, but they don't look as good as I imagined.

What car are you getting?

Join the club! If you have a Coupe you have front tire feathering and most probably tire roar. My front tires after 7,000 miles (Avon 550 A/S) are making so much noise I'm planning on replacing them with the original crappy Goodyear RSAs that were very very quiet. I have 17s. All Coupes have major tire noise. Some can deal with it while others have gotten rid of their cars because of it. I'm still debating this issue. Between the rattles and tire noise I'm looking at the 07G35 sedan. I'll see what happens after I change my fronts back to the RSAs.

Bottom line is our tread/tire life on these cars suck! Especially when on a modified suspension setup. Why cant we just be normal?

Tires/front suspension are the weakest link in Coupe ownership. Infiniti had from 03-07 to do a fix on the messed up front end geometry. They didn't lift a finger. I wouldn't chance purchasing even the 08 for fear of having the same experience twice!

I have had this issue for 3 months now and could not bear it no longer, the roaring was deafening when coming to a stop or slowing down. I even had it aligned and they managed to get it back within specs as mine is not lowered that much but alas it was to late and the noise was still there, today I got my new tires on and oh god it is so sweet, it is so quite that I feel like I am missing something..lol. I had Toyo T1R's on mine also and the tread is still pretty darn good but there no good if there feathered.

Some tires are just noisier in general due to the tread design and depth and size of the blocks. Saying this, these tires might be somewhat noisey when new, but once feathered they turn into a "Hyde"! On the other hand, some tires are inherently quiet, and once they are feathered are not quite as noticeabley noisey as the more aggressive designed tires. Therefore, it's a matter of research, asking others, and luck when it comes to chosing your tires. Unfortunately, due to the excessive expense of tires, it really hurts to try to eliminate the roar and pick the wrong sneakers for your car. I guess that is why some owners have given up.

We paid close to $40k for this so Called Luxury sports car, don't you think it's ridiculas for us to figure that out, and keep on spending money trying different tires?

YES!!! However, other than waiting for another Class A law suit similar to the Nissan 350Z or fighting consumer affairs, what can you do? Either live with the expense and annoyance or throw in the towel and get another car. Personally, I'm on the border right now with this decision. I like my car, but I'm really pissed and sick and tired of the tires and rattles. After my next replacement of front tires I may decide to get rid of my Coupe for a G35 Sedan. It all depends upon my patience. Too bad. It's a nice car with problems.

It's legit. It's on all the forums. I'm registered, and so is my girlfriends G35. I don't know if and when it will do any good, but it's worth a try. My service manager mentioned that the biggest complaint he gets from Coupe owners is the tire noise and wear. He has just gotten new restrictions on giving out any more tires as "good will". It's been going on for too long and Infiniti is starting to give him the pressure to stop. I'm sure the tire problems will eventually be reflected in either JD Powers and/or Consumer Reports. Way too many owners with issues.
