Spray it with WD40 and let it sit for a while and try again.

Been there, done that.

1) Flat blade screwdriver
2) hammer
3) hammer from the inside out.

thanks for the advice guys, wd40 is a definite. . .twisting with two pliers is tough to get a girp with but it woudl be nice to thread it on a bolt and use that! hammering it out seems the way i'm gonna go. . .i got a whole set from Sears. autozone didn't have it surprisingly.

try use the punch & chisel, chisel the nut around the opposite site. It might work sometimes.

find a matching shorter bolt that fits the nut at home depot. thread it down to the base. use a wrench on each end and turn them like you were tighten the nut down. i think it should come off, it looks like the tool is designed to grip the nut in the same direction you would turn to loosen it.

Best bet.......

If it was mine I'd put it in a vice and carefully tap around the edges until it
came loose. Then I go to Sears and buy the correct socket that fits my
lugs....at least a 1/2"!
