"17" Stardard Tire Wear

Hi I'm new to the forum. There have been a number of posts regarding premature tire wear on the "18" tires. How have the "17" standard tires been wearing? Shortly I will be ordering an '04G35C for my wife and must decide on the "17's" or "18's". Your opinion and insight is appreciated.

At just over 10,000 miles, my 17" are fine, but if I had to do it over again I would get the 18". This is an AT Coupe.

Re: "17" Stardard Tire Wear

I have the 17" Bridgestone Turanza's on my sedan. They're probably supposed to last longer than any of the others. Mine are just about ready for replacement at 8300 miles, definately before 10k. To be fair, I autocross the car, and I'm being very, very hard on them. Performance tires might actually last longer the way I drive it, since they're designed for that kind of driving.

I don't look at the tire wear as a downfall, though. I look at it as an excuse to get some good rubber on the car, finally.

The 17s on the Coupe are a Goodyear All Season tire. I don't recall the name. The 18s are Michelin Pilot sports. If all your interested in is wear the Goodyears will last longer, and ride softer. However, the Michelins will run circles around them in the handling Department.
