Springs, Rims and Shocks - Advice needed
I am looking to lower my G35 coupe and I wanted to know what are the best springs? Does anyone have the tein Htech springs (0.7 drop vs 1.5 for basics etc.) I am going to put Volk raicng SF challenge 19x8.5 fr(245/35/19), 19x9.5 rr(275/35/19).
I have read a lot of posts regarding springs and shock replacement. My old e36 M3 had the Eibach Pro Kit, but I also had the Bilstein Sport shocks that were made 1 inch shorter to by synchronous with the spring setup ... do you not have to do this on our g35 coupes? I would be concerned that I could damage the shocks or upset he cars handling. Any comments and ideas, places to buy the above and great pricing deals would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Springs, Rims and Shocks - Advice needed
Eibach does recommend putting properly matched aftermarket shocks on whith their prokit. And I think the Htech springs do too.
I however have to strongly, strongly recommend the TEIN Basic coilover setup. Less than $800 and a much better ride and performance than the Eibachs (which I have used on 2 Mustangs and 2 300ZX so I am familiar). Once you add good matched shocks to the Eibachs you are almost at the cost anyway.
Of course Eibach does make a good product for the price. I only recommend the TEIN after I was thoroughly impressed by the performance, setup and ride quality.
Hope this helps.

They are adjustable for height. As for ride quality. They are slightly stiffer (as in performance/handling) but the ride quality is the same as stock... mainly because this setup uses the stock "pillows", which is the rubber piece between the shock and the car itself.

When you put on the 19" rims did you have to do anything with the camber? I do not want to wear the Ujoints or the tires too quickly.. I like the tein coilovers that you stated, I think that I will go that route (thanks for the info), but want to know how I deal with upsetting camber from stock, if that happens with 19" and tiens, so the toe-in is correct.
Thanks for all you help in advance.

The camber is an issue, and the lower you go the more noticable it will be. I set my suspension as low as I could so I had to install adjustable camber rods ($220) to keep me anywhere near spec.
Dont worry about the Ujoints. Our cars only have a Ujoint at the main drive shaft that isn't affected my the camber of the tires.
Now just about the camber... You will always after the camber on this car when you lower it. The concern is if you will or wont be able to get it back in spec with the factory adjustment range.
Camber adjusting also affects the toe which is alot more important to have in spec to save your tires.
These cars have a bit of negative offset in the design, and with the adjustable camber rods you should be able to have the car aligned perfectly or near perfectly.
As far as my experience, I installed the 19" wheels and the TEIN basics adjusted as low as I could go and still have tire clearance. I had major camber problems (very visible butterfly effect from the back tires). The adjustable camber rods went on and I had the car aligned. The toe being more important was put in spec and then the camber was adjust to right at the negative camber factory limit. So, I figure I am good. The factory had a safety margin when figuring the range, so I am sure I am good.
Hope this helps,
Jeremy

Re: Springs, Rims and Shocks - Advice needed
who is the ajustable rod manufacturer?
Here is the list of what I am setting up to buy:
- Injen Straight tipped exhaust
- Tein Basic coilover
- Volk Racing SF challenge 19x8.5/19x9.5
- Adjustable Camber rods (??)
- Have brand new "remodeled from the first one" Injen CAI - first one made my car stall if I out into neutral at 70mph++
From all the things that I have read, the Injen w/Injen CAI produce the most horsepower together and I am still waiting to find a sound clip with the new straight tips, to see if it is the same as the test exhaust.
Thanks.

Well, here is where things get weird with the adjustable camber rod maker...
It was suggested to me on here to do a search on ebay "g35, camber" and order one from the company that showed up. So, eventhough I was nervous, I ordered the rods. Then like 2 and a half weeks went by and I was even more nervous. Then I got my confirmation email and a shipping notice and a couple of days later they arrived. So, do trust them but don't expect them fast.
The company calls themselves Kinetix Racing and the price is $219.99. The sellers name is "price-wise".
I am sorry if I gave a negative impression... let me say that the rods are AWESOME and of the highest quality. It was just weird is all.
And they are roughly half the price of the same thing from Stillen.com Maybe they are an exact copy?? But honestly they are very, very well made.
I went with the new K&N Typhoon CAI because I love the integrated mass air flow sensor. But, I also plan to go with the Injen straight tip exhaust.

My rears are 9.5" wide with 285/35R19 tires. The rims are a +24 offset and the car is lowered to the point you cant put your finger parallel to the ground straight into the wheel well. You will hit the tire. Does that make sense? Basically the rear tires "tuck" perfectly with my setup. And I have had no rubbing issues.
I do not have the traction bars and have been told on here by other people that they offer a near worthless adustment range...very small. So I trust them. Try doing a search for "camber" on here, you will see all the old discussions.
