Offset numbers...???

I'm really looking for a deep dish look if possible with te37's (gunmetal, LS is my paint), my friend told me just order a particular offset and that will adjust the 'depth' of the wheel. I'm not convinced, anyone have advice? I'm looking at 19x9 (et20) fronts and 19x10 (et25)rears with 245/35 and 275/35 respectively, can anyone decipher all these numbers for me?

te37's don't have big lips - no matter what offset you get them in.
