Is this tire repairable?

So the dude at Goodyear (where I have a $10 coupon) told me that my tire is unrepairable. But he'd gladly set me up with some eagle f1s. Rah rah. No thanks. Is he full of it? Do I need to push the wheel/tire package up on the "to buy" list?

See pics. It looks like it's in the flat part to me. . .not on the sidewall. It's not leaking (or it's REALLY slow) but the lousy "tap dancing" I keep hearing is driving me nuts!

its really cutting it close to repair it because the area needing repair cant be close to the side wall.

I was thinking the same thing.. but in actuality.. the pinpoint of the nail isn't really near the sidewall. It's just the top portion of the nail.

are you looking to repair it correctly or just plug it? if you are just going to plug it, go buy a kit and do it yourself. to properly repair it, your tire needs to be demounted and a patchplug needs to be used (usually done by a tire shop). a patchplug is pretty much self explanatory. it is a patch with a plug attached that is pushed from the inside of the tire to the outside.

he's probably talking about plugging it... this would be a bad idea. it will leak.
if the y break it down and put and actually patch it, it should be fine

Yeah, I wanted to do it properly with an internal patch-plug. I was just wondering if the tire would really "rip apart" like the Goodyear guy said it would if I tried to patch it. I'm bummed! I still have a good 10k+ miles left on these! And I don't plan on tracking it with them.

Thanks everyone.
