Will I need snow tires in Colorado?

I'm moving to Fort Collins, CO in June and it will be my first time living somewhere it snows. Is it really necessary to have snow tires? My realtor said the snow doesn't stay on the ground long in the city, and they are good at clearing the roads after a storm. But what about heading up into the mountains to go skiing?

Will I be fine with all-season tires? I don’t have the money to buy a second set of rims; but if I really need dedicated snow tires, I can save up before winter.

thanks!

It doesn't matter whether the roads are cleared quickly after a snow or not. Winter tires work better in cold weather, and can stop you up to 30% quicker than an A/S on ice and snow.

And if you plan on going up to do some skiing, it's probably a no-brainer.

I am SO SO SO glad I went with winter tires. I got the dunlop winter sport M3s, absolutely loved them!
