G35x wheels and suspension question

Hello,

I'm a new G35x owner. Just wanted to say that this forum helped me greatly in my decision to buy the g35x. Now that I've had the car for roughly 5 days. I felt it was time to make some modifcations.

I've read quite a bit in regards to suspension and wheel setups people had and I think I have made a decision as towards what I wanna do but before I jump into that, I'd like the opinions from this very G35 community.

Wheels

My option for wheels are simple. I wanna throw on the G35 coupe wheels. I believe the offsets will not be a problem but please correct me if I'm wrong. I like the look of the wheel, it's similar to the 17" 05 G's but just somehow more attractive. Are the coupe wheels heavier, meaning it will make me slower? =(

Suspension

Now I've noticed many people have gone with stock springs from a G35 coupe or 350z instead of doing the whole coilover or aftermarket stock/spring set. I felt in terms of dollars and cents. It would make sense to just get springs. I've done searches and homework that spring rates are different as well as certain ride heights.

Here's my question. I would like about a 1" drop but I don't want my ride affected. Which springs should I use to maintain the way my car rides and avoid uneven tire wear?

Or would it be better if I got the G35 coupe wheels and leave my suspension alone? Anyone have pictures or an idea as how this would look? All info is appreciated! Thanks.

First off the coupe wheels are different sizes (staggered) so it will interfere with the AWD system, so I wouldn't suggest those wheels. Check out other "X's" and you'll see they have the same size wheels. Now some members have "disabled" they're AWD system just to run staggered fit wheels.

In terms of lowering your car "X's" are different from the other sedans because the front suspension is different to accomodate the AWD system. Spring design remains the same for all G models, its just that the X's have different front struts. Unfortunately there's no aftermarket upgrade currently available.

For the approx. 1" drop I would suggest springs from a sport sedan that should do the trick.

Thanks for the reply!

Well I definately don't want to disable the AWD system. I was told the 18" G35 coupe wheels were all 8-inch wide but the tire size is staggerred.

So if I go with the sport sedan drop, will it affect any of the following:
- ride comfort?
- cornering?
- uneven tire wear?
- toe/camber adjustment?

I just picked up an 07x last week. I plan on using Tein H-Techs for a 06 sedan. It has been done w/o any problems. I guess I will find out for sure...
