Tire wear question
Tire wear question
Hey guys, I posted this on another forum but did not get any responses so I thought I'd try my luck here. We just got some new rear tires for the G and the place checked the alignment and said the toe was out of spec on the rears. The specs printed out were as follows:
Left rear had toe of .28 and the specified range is 0.0-.22. The right rear was .27 and the specified range is 0.0-.22. Total toe is .55 and the specified range is .01-.43... Any input or know where I can find more information? The camber specs were within the proper range.
So I am wondering, just how bad is this amount of toe and what kind of tire wear might be expected as a result? The old tires were worn more on the outsides and the fronts (which we did not replace yet) are as well, but the front alignment is completely within spec for toe, caster and camber. Anyway, let me know what you guys think or if you can guide in the direction to get more information. Thanks in advance.

uhhh... you're out of spec, hence you need an alignment. You wont experience any pulling because both sides are almost matching. Get your rear Toe set anywhere from .05-.11 ( i set mine at .05 out of personal preference) and then have the front adjusted accordingly.

^^^ I realize that it is out of spec... I guess my main concern/question is, is this causing the tires to wear faster on the outsides or is this another issue? The tires are wearing like this at all 4 corners and it does not appear camber related because the fronts a ~-1 degree and still wearing the outsides faster. As far as I know and have seen, too much toe wouldn't cause the outsides of tires to wear faster, would it? I am kind of wondering, when I get the alignment done, should I also run more negative camber in the rear (fronts too) to not wear the outsides as fast.
