Winter Wheels/Tires

I have a Journey with Sport Wheels and Tires. Since I will need different tires for winter I am thinking about 3 options:

1. Buy a new set of wheels and winter tires. This will cost more but eliminates mounting and balancing tires twice a year and won't mess up my Sport rims.

2. Just by all season radials on my current sport wheels and when the summer tires go ( I have 3k miles so I got what another month or two left!)

3. Buy winter tires and have them mounted on existing wheels each winter.

I am leaning towrds option 1. Anyone purchased an extra set of wheels for winter? If so where did you get them and how much$

Great question, I'm getting ready to buy some winter tires/wheels too and I'm goin with option 1.

I am getting Blizzaks from tirerack.com (only $99 ea right now), not sure which rims yet. Total comes out to about 870 shipped.

Are you going to stick with the 18's (unmatched) ?

Could go with a matched set of 17's or 18's.

just get a used set of OEM 17s...and mount either all seasons or snow tires..
Then just swap out and store the summer wheels and tires in the snow months.
I have done this on several cars for years.
It keeps the summer rims much nicer, makes all the tires last longer, and is much cheaper and easier than remounting and balancing in the long run..
FYI, i just bought a set of EOM 17s with all season Potenzas with 5000 miles on them...Bought on ebay for $300
