Max front tire width size

Hi,

I've read all the threads in here and couldn't find my answer. What is the maximum front tire width size I can put on my 2004 G35 coupe. I have the OEM 18 inch wheels... I'm looking to go 265/35R18 on all 4 wheels so I can do proper rotation of the tires.... Will it fit in the front? (I know they will in the rear).

I know some of you probably don't think it's a good idea to go same tire size on all 4 wheels... but that's not what I'm looking for here... I only want to know if that size will fit or if I'm looking for trouble.

Thanks guys

Bernie

265 is too wide to safely install on an 8" wheel. I would go no wider than 245

Agree, 245/40-18 for the front tires....

Though I have to point out... If you run the same size tires on all 4 wheels, your VDC will hate you... Even on low-speed turns, the vDC will flip out and brake your front corner... You might think it's ok, but it can actually be dangerous, as it can actually throw you into a spin.

I'm not going to be your mommy, so what you do is your own business... But 245 or 255 is the biggest I would go on the factory wheel widths...

I am about to order some 245/40/18's today online for the front and probably 245/45/18's for the rear. We'll see how they fit up front, but I did a lot of research and a few others ran this setup without issue either with rubbing or with VDC.

I couldn't find a good rear tire size from Falken in their FK452 that is slightly wider than stock but would fit on the OEM 18" rims, and wouldn't mess up VDC. The closest is the 255/45/18 for the rears, but that seems like it may screw up the VDC since the tire will be a good amount taller than stock(about 1/3" to 1/2"). The stock 245/45/18 in the rear is already pushing the limits of the VDC system since the rear tire is about 3% larger than the front in terms of diameter with the OEM setup.

I'm still a bit undecided on the 255/45/18 in the rear or the 245/45/18. I figure there's not really that much of a difference between the two, so maybe it's not worth the risk of the 255 causing problems with VDC to gain an extra 1/3" in width.

I guess I need to decide soon so I can buy those pigs.

I think it's hilarious that you do mods to your Z, and your for some stupid reason putting small tires on your back?

Hope you don't plan to go F/I, then you'll be creaming over fat tires

To conclude this thread, here is what I did and the results:

- I've put 4 identical 245/40R18 Yokohama ES100.
- I've been running 3 months with them and already did 1 tire rotation. Tire wear is much better!!
- I didn't have any VDC problems running this setup. Cornering and Acceleration is as it was. I'm not racing the car, therefore not pushing it to the limit, but for regular sport street driving, I have no problem.
- Speedometer doesn't seem to be affected whatsoever even if the tire size is not OEM. I tested with one of my friend that has a brand new car and we were both on the cruise control at that same speed.

So for people that do a lot of milage every year, I strongly suggest this setup. At least your tires don't wear as fast.

I would go with 245 maximum for the front. For better tread wear, flip your tires every 5k miles.

What about on 8.5 tires, which will fit 255's safely. Will these work without rubbing the fenders?
