Winter tires and wheels
Winter tires and wheels
I just got a new 2007 G35 6MT coupe w/ the 19" summer tires, so sometime before winter sets in I need to get a set of winter tires w/ wheels. I've read that there aren't many tires and/or wheels that fit properly on the 6MT coupe. Anyone up north have any experience to offer up? Are 18" the right size to get? TireRack.com lists the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 as the tire to put on this specific model, but shows no wheels available for 18" winter tires. Has anyone found a setup that works well in winter?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Go with 17's. You will have a taller sidewall on the snow tires, and in turn will aid in traction and overall winter weather performance.
I put 17" ASA KA3's w/Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires on my car.
I sacrificed a little in the handling dept, but not a significant amount.
The taller side wall gives you more rocking motion in tight cornering, but nothing you can't get adjusted to.
I went with 225/55/17's all the way around, and no problems with the VDC/ABS systems at all. This set up allows me to rotate the tires, since I used to do about 12,000 miles during the winter months.
If you don't drive alot, go with the staggered setup. I believe its 225/50/17 front and 235/50 17 rear
only problem was the TPS light would come on now and again if I drove for more then 30-40 minutes.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like TireRack has a lot more wheel options for the 17" anyway, so I guess that's the way to go. What I really should do is move to a warm climate and I wouldn't even have to worry about it.
