Re: Good brake lines out there?

I'm not sure on a car, but...

I use Goodridge Kevlar brake lines on my motorcycle, and it made quite a difference from stock. And the stock brakes were already really good.

Hope this helps,
Dave

Re: Good brake lines out there?

The question in my mind is that... What's the difference between the stock brake lines and the steel braided ones? Performance wised...? Also how r those kevlar brake lines compare to the steel braided ones?

Re: Good brake lines out there?

Stock Brake lines suck because when you step on the brake Pedal The Stock rubber lines expand so some of the Pressure is lost. Braided Stainless lines DON'T Expand so All of the Pressure is sent to the Caliper Helping you to stop better. I'm Not too Familiar with the Kevlar ones. As for the Stainless I'm making my next mod the Goodridge ones...... Make sure you use some good Racing Brake Fluid Like MOTUL, Also Change your Fluid on a Yearly Basis Because Brake Fluid Absorbs Water from the Atmosphere and Decreases the Effectiveness of the Fluid ( Lowers the Boiling Point a few Hundred degrees)

Re: Good brake lines out there?

By upgrading your "brake system" what exactly do you mean? A set of new pads? New rotors? Complete caliper and rotor kit? The reason why I ask, and I'm not sure why no one else thought to question it, but depending on what you want to do, you may get new brake lines with the upgrade. For example, if you're gonna throw on a set of over-sized rotors and calipers like the Brembo's or such, it may just come with performance steel braided lines.

Re: Good brake lines out there?

Thanks for the replies guys..
Yes i'm upgrading the whole system. Brembo F50 4 piston front and 2 piston rear caliper set. The rotors and brake lines are not included. So I need to buy bigger rotors, adapter bracket for the G, and new brake lines. And where can I get those Goodridge brake lines?

Re: Good brake lines out there?

I bought them used as a set from a seller in Taiwan. They were taken off from an evo 6 according to him. The calipers are in mint condition but still alot of things are missing. It should take me another month to get the whole thing done ~.~"... Btw you sure stock adapters worked on the brembo that you got? If so, I might just need to get the rear ones. Anyway im just guessing now since i haven't got the calipers yet...yea I'll keep yall posted!

Not sure if they would help but, <a href="http://www.performancenissanparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=305">Performance Nissan</a> sells stop tech brake lines and <a href="http://www.stillen.com">Stillen</a> sells some too

Re: Good brake lines out there?

I think there's a few things going on here. First of all, the stock brembos on Evos already have the mounting system integrated into the caliper, just like a regular caliper. It's all part of the same mold/cast. The true aftermarket Brembos, like the F50 caliper, use separate mounting brackets, and the calipers are mounting perpendicularly to the bracket. I forget which way radial mounting meant. If you're getting them from the Evo, you'll have to hope that the mounting bolt distances match up, otherwise you'll have to have a custom bracket manufactured, and you'll have to have the caliper moved farther out. Which is good if it means you get to use a larger disk rotor, but bad if the caliper now hits the wheel.

The front distance on our cars is 10 cm or 4 in. I got lucky and got red brembos that just so happened to have the exact some mounting distance, so it bolted right on.

The rear on our cars is wierd. It's not a round number. it's somewhere between 4.5 and 5 in, or around 12.3 mm. The Sti brembo calipers are 4.5 I think. But 4.5 will not work on the rears of our cars. I might end up going with the upcoming Stoptech 2 piston 13" rear set.

As for brake lines, I bought a set of front and rear Stoptech SS lines from conceptzperformance for $150.

Re: Good brake lines out there?

Here's what I mean. The distance is 4 inches. This caliper bolted right up.

BTW, the paint can is just holding the stock caliper, not the whole car.

Re: Good brake lines out there?

Thanks for the pic~ By the time I received them, I'll be able to measure the distance of the mounting holes on the calipers and see if they'll fit. As for the customed bracket...where can I get them? Cuz I got a feeling that they wouldn't fit right on...

Re: Good brake lines out there?

For some reason I have trouble editing the previous post. Anyway I'm pretty sure they're real F50s so I'm looking around to get ahold of the Brembo F50 caliper adapter bracket for our coupe. Also is the mounting bracket for a 6MT different from the ones for a 5AT?
