Basic Q Regarding Tire and Brake Pad Measurements, 8/32 tires and 10/30 brake pads

Hey everyone,

On my maintenance invoice it says: "tires 8/32, brakes 10/30"

8/32 = 25%...is that the proper way of understanding tire tread and brake pad life left? I think I'm wrong, so someone please enlighten me. (couldn't find any help via Google btw)

Many thanks in advance!

no, it means they have 8/32" left of tread, legal minimum tread depth is 2/32"
