No, I have the aerodynamic body kit with spoiler option.

What wheels/tires are those in the pic, not the stock wheels. Running the Azenis on diff rims now?

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

Yep. Factory body kit.

The picture is an older one from before I had the Azenis. The wheels are the ones I have my Goodyear F1s on. They're Enkei RP02-J 17x8. I will eventually sell my stock sport rims and get another set of 17x8 for the Azenis. I'm leaning towards the Enkei RPF1s since they're relatively inexpensive and only weigh 15.5 lbs each.

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

How do you like the Enkei's? I was eyeballing the RPO-2J's in a more stock 17x7 size, due to their relatively low cost and low weight compared to what's out there.

I love them. They're good looking as well as very easy to clean.

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

It's pretty expensive from the dealer, which is why a lot of people don't get it (almost $3K). But yes, you can get it from them. There are other much cheaper alternatives on the market, but none that have copied it exactly.

That's why my car has every option except the body kit. Too much money for 4 pieces of plastic.

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

Just was checking the infiniti web site, I probably checked it out before, but forgot about it because of the cost.

It does look sweet though, that's a nice pic you got autocrossing!

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

ryoken, do you run SCCA DS? how do you do?

I'm used to being competitive, but not sure if i can be in a G35 6 speed sedan in DS... Can I beat a WRX on a tight course??? Probably not...

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

I don't know. I haven't seen a good driver in a G35 yet. I've only been doing this for about a year, and I still suck. The other guys that drive G35's in my area have only gone to a couple of events. We're all about 5 seconds slower than the leaders (which, btw, happen to be Sentra SE-R's and Integra Type-R's more often than WRX's). Part of that is the fact that the winners run race rubber tires and have several stock-legal modifications. Part of that is driver skill. To be honest, I don't know what the car is capable of on the course yet, compared to other DS cars, but sometime this year during one of the practice/school events I plan on having one of the local instructor drivers show me what my car can do. I also plan on replacing the Bridgestone Turanza EL42's with some real tires sometime early this year, since a year of autocross has A) shown me how they suck, and B) worn them down to 5/32nds in less than 8000 miles.

Your G35 will probably stand less of a chance of being competitive in ESP or STX, though.

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

I usually run with WRX's in my class as well, and yes, you can beat them. I even ran with 2 STi's in January and my raw time was faster than one of them and .1 sec slower than the other (I did hit 1 cone however). You can check out how competitive I've been in the link below (keep in mind I just started autocrossing last April. Do a search for G35 and you can easily find me Don Gutierrez #35. When you see a number in parenthesis, remember to subtract that number x2 seconds for raw times. You can also compare my times to the D-Stock cars who run race rubber.

http://www.houscca.com/solo2/soloresults.aspx

By the way, this last time around (Feb), I experimented with removing the VDC fuse (bad idea) which made me lose my ABS and really screwed up my times (despite the fact I got 4th). Didn't realize how dependent I had become on the ABS.

Re: 17" Tires/Autocross

This will be my first event this 2-14 and 2-15 with my new set up. I've added new racing wheels and Kuhmo Victoracers, Eibach sway bars at the full stiff setting. I can't wait to see if it all works well together. Luckly we have a practice event Saturday to try it all out. Them hopefully the entire system will be dialed in for Sundays event. Now lets see if the driver can handle and figure out what to adjust and chnage. Sounds like a fun weekend.
