06 coupe on Yokohama Advan sports 19" 245/40R19

Was not happy to see a nail close to the side wall of my tire today.

Does anyone think this is fixable by plug or patch???


Ordering these tires was a $%^^ to begin with, I dont want to buy a brand new one in this case.

 

That's pretty close to the sidewall, probably not fixable. Your tire is bald anyway, time for a new one.

 

The picture is deceiving, these tires have 6000km on them only. Tonnes of tread on them. Damn it, seriously too close to sidewall???

 

It's borderline. Do you want to trust your life to that? I guess it would be OK if you never drive over 40 mph. Your cal...

 

Why don't you just take it to a tire shop and let them make the call. We can't diagose this by a picture over the internet! Looks like it's fixable but there is no way to tell unless you dismount the tire and take a closer look.

Update, brought to the tire store, he pulled the nail out and there is no air leak!

 

You need new tires anyways. They look bald as hell!

i dunt kno what u guys are smoking but there is A LOT of rubber left on those tires....

it can be patched, NOT plugged.

i had the same problem in my car a few weeks ago.. patched it right up =)

 

If you really need to fix it and the tire shop tells you they can't, you can go to a corner gas station where they plug the holes. They can even do it with the tire on your car. They just pull out the nail and shove in the plug.

But, the last time I did that, it was for a 1986 Grand Am back in 1996!!!

It looks painful...
