Spare tire and lugs

I got a set of Moda R6 rims with winter tires for the winter months on my G. I bought them from TireRack, and they said I had to get new lugs with them. So I bought new lugs and used those with the Moda rims.

So here's my question: If I get a flat tire, should I use the lugs that went on the original rims?

It makes sense that I should, but that means I have to keep 5 lugs in my car with the spare tire.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Spare tire and lugs

I suspect that the new nuts you bought were 'Tuner type' nuts to fit into the smaller holes of your wheels. As long as the shape of the end of the bolt looks similar, I don't think you'd have a problem with using them on your stock wheels.

In fact, if they are the type that uses a key to turn them, you could put one on each of your summer set for a sort of cheap 'wheel lock' alternative.
