New Tires - Please Help

I need to replace the tires on my 04 G35X. I have OEM rims, and based on what everyone is saying I am pretty sure I want to go with the Michelin Pilot Sprts A/S. What size do you guys recommend on the stock rim:

235/50/17s or 225/50/17s????

I've heard that the 35s have tire buldge but the 25s impact the speedo. Also, gas mileage on the X is a consideration. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

i just had 4 new Kumho Ecsta ASX in the 225/50/17 size installed on my '04 6MT w/ the 17" sport wheels. in my opinion, i love the new look. the new tires appear to be much wider than the 10mm would suggest.

it seems that the OEM Turanza EL42's had a narrow tread width which exasperated the already-narrow 215 section width.

this means that even if i had stayed with the 215 size, the Kumho's would have been wider at the tread.

i had seriously contemplated the 235/50/17 size, but now that i have the 225 on, i'm glad. i would not want any wider. check the tread widths between the OEM tires and the new tire you are considering. you may not need to go to 235.

as far as speedo error - ~ 1mph at 60 (~ +50 engine rpms at 60mph)
gas mileage - nil. these tires weigh less than OEM and overall diameter is very close.

You couldn't do better than Michelins and I'd go with the 35's! Check TireRack or CostCo for prices......Good Luck!

Thanks for the comments, it was helpful! As for the Michelins, the 235s seems to be the tire of choice and closer to the stock size. Are there any X owners out there that have used them and could provide some feedback? Specifically, I'm curious if they saw in impact on mileage (we already get poor city mileage) and if the car seemed a bit slower with the heavier tires. Thanks.
