Anything to touch up curb rash on wheels?
Re: Anything to touch up curb rash on wheels?
the only thing that you can do is get them refinished, but it will be slightly different than stock. Nissan has some special blend of the powdercoat and no refinisher that I have found can match it. I am sure that there is someone out there though.
Or buy a new one at something like $700+

yes! had my coupe only a week before i managed to scrape the front driver's side wheel (oem, aluminum not chrome). not happy, as you well know. the consensus was that only fix is to send it off for repair (not cheap). this i would actually have done, but in walmart noticed a $4 can of dupli-color high performance wheel coating. figuring i had nothing to lose i took it home and attempted touchups. at first i masked off the scrapes(very tedious) and spot sprayed, but the result was poor. almost on impulse i took off all tape and aimed a quick spray at each scrape from about 8 inches away. almost miraculously the marks disappeared. i repeated two more very light coats on each of the scrapes (3 spokes in my case) and ended with near perfect results. i did no prep work, but light sanding (2000 grit) would probably make for even better appearance. as it is, my wheel looks brand new again except on very close inspection (you almost have to know where to look). i'm an artist and a perfectionist, so not easy to please.
this is my first post, though i've been reading since i got my coupe 6 weeks ago. give the paint a try--you won't be sorry.

been there...done that
hit a curb as well....messed up about a third of my lip on pass front side....I tried to match the paint w/a blend of testors model paint...it matched pretty well...but the scuffs were a little to deep so it was still obvious to me...finally broke down and had my dealership have a wheel repair place
do my repair for $150...I'm probably the only one who could tell exactly where it was damaged...I'm happy with the end result....20ld4this

yes, but my digital is in my daughter's possession at the moment. believe me, i was totally surprised at the cheap, easy, and more than adequate fix.

Hmmm...I gotta go to the dealer to get some touchup paint today anyways so I'll see what they say.
Can you give me a specific name of that product that you used to fix your wheel? Sounds like the way to go and if it doesn't work ... then I can pay the 150 to get it fixed.

Two things: 1. I just got a color code from Infiniti for the wheel paint, but they don't sell it and I haven't been able to track it down; even from Matthos body shop supplier. The number is G081-2; 2. There's a detailed do-it-yourself procedure here: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext43.shtml. I've used it on Audi wheels and it worked great. I don't know if the Wurth paint will match our wheels. If the damage is deeper, I started with body filler and then continued.
