Will 225/45/18 for front and back affect the computer or handling adversely?

I noticed stock my tires are 225/40/19 in the front, and 245/40/19 in the rear. That would make the rear slightly larger than the front. If I go with the same size front and back, will it hurt my car's handling in any way?

It can cause the VDC to act up and activate prematurely in alot of cases, and messes up the forward rake engineering into the design. You'll also have less traction with 225's in the rear and the car will likely handle worse with the increased sidewall height

You'll kill the stagger and as mentioned above you'll have other problems as well. Tire sizes are a much discussed topic on this forum. Do a search and you'll see. As for a discussion on the stagger look here:

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll sell the tires I have, and get new ones with the wheels. I don't want the wheel speed sensor difference veering me off the road. I might as well go with the 245s if I have to buy new ones anyway.

So. 225/45/18 fronts, and 225/50/18 rears will work, or I can do 225/45/18 with 245/45/18? As long as the overall OD matches the stock specifications?

That's true, but I'll also get a softer ride, less chance of damaging my wheels, and a wider selection of tires. I'm using this car in NJ year-round, I'd like some all seasons with enough meat to protect my wheels, and under $250 a piece.

I never really wanted 19's, they just came with the car....a car with a premature tire wear issue at that.

Yeah, I just couldn't find the answer I wanted. Everyone is just obsessed with ungodly wide tires here, lol. I'd love to know where they're driving wrecklessly enough to need 275 tires

My tires still chirp 1-2 with 285's, which is hardly overkill IMO. Also , are you looking to downgrade to 18's from your stock 19's?

Yeah, looking to downgrade from 19's. I prefer smoothness and comfort. Also, it allows me to look into other tire options, such as winter or all-season wheels. This is my daily driver. 18's are just cheaper with a wider variety. 19's are a bit much for me.

Mine's an auto, no chirping for me. haha
