Looking for some advice on tires... Need to replace the OEM tires prior to winter... definitely don't want to go with OEM tires again... they suck! Looking for a sporty all season tire... thinking about Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, Pirelli PZero Nero MS, amongst others. Did a search for these tires on the forums and didn't find much. The Goodyear is brand new so I doubt anybody has experience with them but was looking for insight on the Michelin and Pirelli.
Also had a question on tire size... the car currently has 215/55-17 which is a hard size to find... was looking at upgrading to 225/50-17 or 235/50-17 however I would like to keep the outside diameter roughly the same to avoid speedometer problems. In addition I was wondering if there are any clearance issues on the front at full lock with the 225/50-17 or 235/50-17.
Thanks for helping a NOOB

I typically run all seasons in the winter and summers in the summer on the stock 18" rims.
I *just* (as in today) put a set of Goodyear F1 All Seasons in 245/40R18, 245/45R18 on my '03 6MT coupe after reviewing the Tirerack.com test of Bridgestone RE960AS PP, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S & Pirelli PZero Nero M&S.
Living in the Seattle area, my main emphasis is wet performance and also performance in light snow.
Previously, I ran some Continental ContiExtremeContacts in the same sizes and while (according to the tests) they are not as good as the tires in this test, I was still pretty happy with them as my winter tire.
Note that at the end of the test page there is a link for the raw data "View Test Result Charts" and that if you poke around, you can use them to compare to other tires that are listed in other tests. For example, I was able to compare the numbers to the Contis because they had a review that included the Contis which in turn had the results chart.
Also keep in mind that while useful, the Survey Results and the Reviews are based on subjective user results, not any sort of controlled test.
Sorry, no feedback on the Goodyears yet. Ironically, I told myself in the past I'd never buy another Goodyear tire, but the tests suggested it was the best tire for my use. Time will tell.

Just pickup a set of Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge 225/55R17 to replace the OEM 215/55/R17 RSA on my 05 G35X.
Quieter ride, better steering response and improved traction. Went with the 225 for a slightly wider contact patch, to fill the wheel wells a bit more, and better highway mileage. The 225s are less expensive and more common than the odd ball 215s.
Right now you get a Goodyear $40 cash card for purchasing a set of these tires.
