wider tire for stock 17x7 wheels
just got off the phone with tire rack and i was asking them what tire options i had for a wider tire that gave me the same circumfrence and would not throw my spedo of or revolustions per mile the size we cam up with was a 235/50/17. just wanted to inform you guys, it gives us a beeter tire selection.

Yup. It does, for a highway tire. But the performance tire selection is small. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is a great all-around tire in the 235/50R17, though.
225/50R17 and 225/55R17 are also acceptable sizes, only 1mph off on the speedometer at 60, and the 55 profile size has a couple of really good summer performance tire choices. (Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position and Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, to name a couple.)
245/45R17 is technically just a bit too much for our rims, but we have a couple of forum members that use this size on the stock rims and autocross with it (Falken Azenis), so I'd say it's acceptable as well, and still within 3% of stock, but farther off than the 2 225 choices.
