ET45 wheels not fitting on front of G35 Sport Sedan
Hi, posting for a buddy here. He owns the car, I'm the one that understands the technical details. He has an 2007 G35 Sedan with the Sport package, OEM 18's with staggered wheels.
He recently ordered a set of winter wheels/tires from Discount Tire. I believe the model (MBR) is the one in the link below. Offset is ET45 front & rear and I think the tire size is 245/45/18. He dropped it off at the dealer this weekend and they told him the rears are fine but the fronts don't fit. I haven't been able to confirm this myself. My guess without test mounting one is the caliper is probably getting in the way. Any idea why this would happen ? The FAQ says the OEM offset is ET45 so in theory it should fit just fine.
If this is the case (and yes Discount Tire should take care of it) I'm thinking the least painfull solution would be to order a set of spacers up front rather than ship the tires/wheels back. I don't own a G35 myself so I'm not in the loop. For his sedan, is it as simple as sliding the spacers on the OEM studs underneath the wheel ? Can you get away with not replacing the studs with longer ones ? I don't think he would want to swap studs back 'n forth every fall/spring.
What is the thinnest offset he could buy that would solve the issue 5 or 10mm, that you would recommend running ? Any brands work specifically "better" with the G35 or brands to avoid. I'm trying to do the technical legwork so I can tell him what to buy.
What he has for his winter wheels:
18X9 5-114.3 45SM

Look around in the 07 and up G35 section too.

I'm not in the know, what is the correfct size/offset for an 2007 G35 Sport Sedan ? DT suggested NOT going staggered and running the same wheel width front/back.

Discount tire shouldn't have sent your friend wheel/tire combo which doesn't fit in any case.
