So which is it???
Whatever you feel like. If you like the stretched look, go for the smaller sizes. If you like a flat sidewall, go for the bigger. If you like in-between, you know...

There is no "perfect size" - everyone wants different things with style, performance, handling, etc. Personally I would go as wide as possible, without increasing the overall weight too much. I'm actually leaning toward going non-staggered to make the car more neutral.

here are the most common combos for a 9.5/10.5 setup

245/35 275/35

255/35 285/35

255/35 275/35

personally, i prefer 255/35 285/35

IMO this is the best set up for a 9.5/10.5 set up

255/35/19
295/30/19

Go at least: 255/35 285/35

If you can fit wider than that (depends on your drop, offsets, and camber) then why not?

People started getting 9.5's and 10.5's because Volks in these sizes come with a bigger lip. If you get a wheel where you can select whatever offset you want - you may as well just get 8.5 and 9.5 with a lower offset to get more lip. a 275 rear is more than enough for these cars. I mean come on - it's not like they make a ton of power.

I recall reading somewhere that 275 with 19's is the widest we can run on our rear tires without having to roll the fenders and MAYBE you can get by without rolling the fenders with 285's. Something to think about since rolling the fenders is a pain in the a** unless you know a reputable shop that will do it for cheap.
