07 rims on my 05 G35X; will they fit?

Will the 10-spoke 2007 17 x 7.5 rim fit on my 05 G35x (stock 17 x 7)? I know I'll need new lug nuts. Will I need a spacer? I thought the answer was yes, and bought the 07 rims. I planned on using the stock rims for the winter tires; the 07 rims for the summer. Took the car to the local shop, and found

1) I need new lug nuts - doh!
2) the rears fit fine, but the front has less clearance between the rim and the control arm (wider rim) -- thus the shop was hesitant to put it on. Physically, it fits, but I didn't drive on it -- the shop was worried about cornering, especially when I go autoXing. The idea of a spacer came up, but they (and I) didn't know if that would require any alignment work, etc. My goal is to keep things as simple/stock as possible.

has anyone actually done this? thx! Kash
