2003 Sedan tire options

Going to change tires this spring. I'd like to go 245/50/17 all around. Anyone using this size on the 17x7 sport rims. I've been told to use 235/50/17s (michelin pilot as). I would think you'd need 7.5 or 8 inch wide wheels to fit the 245 tires? I think the 245/50/17 wouldn't mess with the VDC either.

According to Tirerack, Michelin, etc. 235/50 is the widest you should go on a 7" wheel. I've got 235/50/17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss and love them.

245/50 is okay on a 7", but 245/45 needs a 7.5", though we have forum members running it on the stock rims anyway, successfully.

No worries about VDC as long as you keep the same tires front and back, and the tire diameter is within 3% of the stock size. This will help:
