Do a little digging in the tech section. There are a million and one threads on winter tires/rims.

my winter set-up is the OEM stag 17" rims with bridgestone Blizzak LM-22's. So far I'm happy, but if I were to do it over again, I would have chosen the WS-50/WS-60's since they are more of a hardcore winter tire, not the performance winter tires that the LM-22's are. Haven't gotten stuck yet, but I think the most amazing aspect of winter tires is the added cornering grip and superior brake traction.

I'm keeping my stock tires (no space to store a new set) and will buy 2 - 70 lbs bags of sand for the rear axel.

u need to seriously look into the difference b/n a summer tire and a winter one. the car already has near 50/50 weight distribution. u could throw an elephant in there and it wouldn't make a difference.

I know it's ghetto but it's the best that I can do. It'd like to have winter tires but don't have a place to keep a set of tires.
