Wheel Help - installed my winter setup - rubbing

Alright guys, I've got a bit of a problem. Yesterday I installed my winter tires wheels on my 05 sedan and I've got some rubbing issues. I was able to get a great deal on a 350z setup for only $325 (wheels and tires), so I jumped on it.

Suspension: Lowered on Tein 350z H-Tech, Tokico D-Spec

Summer setup: OEM G35 Sport wheels, running 245/45R18 all around - no rubbing at all. Unsure of offset (can anyone help? I think they are +30)

Winter setup: 350z Touring wheels, 225/45R18 fronts, 245/45R18 rears - rubbing big time in the rear when any sort of bump or turn occurs. Offset is +30
(For a pic of the wheels: http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Image...z_wheels_2.jpg)

I'm pretty sure the OEM Sport wheels are +30 offset, but can anyone confirm? The 350z wheels seem to stick out a bit further, but I'm wondering if it is just the shape of the winter tires I'm using. Also, it seems like the lug nuts are just buried in there.....very deep into the hole, but I'm still able to get plenty of turns on it to tighten things up.

I think the 225's in the front might be fine, most of the rubbing noise seems to be in the back. I might try putting those on the rear tonight and see what happens. The rears have maybe 1/2 finger gap and they are lined up with the fender (meaning it would hit). Even if I got a fender roll, I'm still worried they might hit. On my summer tires, they seem to have about the same amount of gap, but "tuck in" so there is no rubbing.

Any suggestions? Our weather is looking nasty this week and I'd like to figure things out.

Offset for the rear should be over +40. Mine are +48.

Both your 18 inch G35 coupe rims and the 18 inch 350Z rims are 18x8 +30 all around. I bet the rubbing is caused by the profile of the winter tires. Even though tires may share the same size, they can be different in actual measurements when mounted.

The 05/06 G35 Sedan Sport wheels are 7.5" wide x 18 with 45mm offset for sure.

You will probably need to either run some negative camber in the rear or get a lower profile tire and roll the fenders. Wrong offset for the G.

If Chico or Gdup can chime in, they can probably tell you exactly what you need to do to make it work.

Sounds like you might need to do some rolling. Roll or cut the rears for sure. You can roll the fronts a little if needed but they are 75% rolled already.

Dang, that sucks. I made a thread a while back ago asking if they would fit, but guess I was not given accurate info. I guess if the offsets are not correct then I will just have to mount the winter tires on my normal wheels.

I'll have to check tonight to see if a fender roll would make it happen...how much does that cost anyway?

I got a great deal on those wheels too....oh well, guess they are going to be for sale shortly. I kinda liked the look too.

I thought you were using the coupe 18's for summer wheels since you thought the ofsets were +30, which is what the coupe wheels are.

I'd roll the rear fenders. It's not difficult.

Sorry, should have clarified. I'm on the OEM Sedan Sport 18's. Guess I'm still unclear on what the offset is for these. Anyone know for sure?

As you mention, I know other people are using coupe 18's with the +30 offset, so I'm not sure how my 350z +30 offset is causing issues....except maybe if it is the profile of the tire hitting.

Are they the 350Z 8" or 8.5" rears? They make both.

My spares are the forged coupe 19's which are +30 and 8.5 in the rear and would rub like crazy if my rears were not rolled.

All of them are 8".....looking at one of the posts above, it appears my Sedan Sport wheels are 7.5", +45. So between that an the possible difference in offset, I can see the problem.

I think I'm going to try running the 225's in the rear and see if it saves enough width to clear.

Out here in Cali (at least the Bay Area) fender rolling costs anywhere from 40 to 60 per fender.

your problem is not the wheels...it's the tire size you're running in the rear. I have the coupe wheels (18x8 +30) with 235/45/18 all around as my winter set up and have no problems whatsoever.

Your front tires are too short and narrow and the rears are too wide, tall and square, hence the rubbing you're experiencing. If you cannot change tires to 235/45/18 all around, then you should roll your rear fenders and that will fix the problem.
