i see cars with chains every year.. every time i go snowboarding in lake tahoe, they require all cars that are not 4wd to have chains, even with snow tires.. this is on highway 80 going towards reno, they have checkpoints making sure you have chains unless you're a suv or a 4wd

Thank you very much for your comments.

Yes, that's true. Driving G with chains could look weird but like Boby1573 said, all passing cars/trucks/even 4X4 SUVS or whatever on I-80 East to
RENO/Lake Tahoe MUST put snowchain on at least two drive wheels under severe whether condition.(It happens a lot in winter than you expected)

I actually tried Z-555 from Z-chain which was especially designed for the cars have low-profile tires like G but didn't work at all even though it was
exact-fit size to 245/45/18 rear tires according to their specification.

Those who have a plan to buy Z-555 from Z-chain, I say, don't buy it cause it is not gonna fit to your rear wheel. I'd rather buy one or two oversized chain from Z-chain like Z-56X, Z-56XXX... whatever.

Haven't tried yet but if I can have a chance to try it will post up how it works.

Again, thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Many states have banned studded tires because of the damage they do to paved roads.

Washington state requires chains occasionaly. Fine for not chaining up when they are required is $538.00 or $583.00. Whichever - still expensive. Once you have put them on and taken them off several times it gets easier. FWD or RWD, about the same.
