Urgent Help, Now a tire size question - last post

Hey Guys,

Can someone tell me what the screw at the bottom of the pic on the hub is?
You can see it's different to the wheel studs/ What's it for?
I've checked the 04 service manual and can't find a pic of it on the drawings of the hubs.

Urgent Help, What is this on the hub-hub1-medium-.jpg

Thanks mate

Good stuff, does that mean it can be removed?
I read somewhere that a dealer said it had no bearing on wheel safety at all.

The reason I'm asking is that i have a set of 350Z SF Challenge and that screw is in the way.

Cheers
Bobby

Yes, it has to be removed to install aftermarket wheels. 12mm socket or wrench and voila!

Mate you are a life saver. i was having mild heart attacks

I'm in Australia, and this is one the first sets of Volks anyone has in the country for a V35 so not much local knowledge. Actually none. I took them to a wheel place which said the hubs where wrong but when i got home I tried the rears and they fit, but the front was catching on the bolt.

Also,
I've been given a set of Mich Pilot PS2's to go with the rims. However the sizes are 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear. Can anyone see any major issues with these sizes?

I know the front should be 245/35 however, as a i said I was given them and don't really want to get new tires if these will be fine.

Cheers
Bobby

Tires will be fine. The 40 ratio is not bad at all. The difference in height between the 40 and the 35 ratio of 245 width will be 98 - 85.75 = 12.25 mm.

I'd rather keep a 40 ratio tire up front anyway to minimize harsh road conditions (although minimally) compared to a 35. My tires are 255/40 F and 305/30 R.

Have fun with your new wheels! And make sure never to clean them volks with any acid based cleaner as the barrels are ANODIZED, not clearcoated. The acid will destroy the anodized (pigmented oxidized aluminum) layer and reveal the raw aluminum beneath which will oxidize to an unpigmented, dull, flat, gray look.
