2006 Sedan: will 225/45/18 fit on stock 18" wheels

I have a 2006 Sedan with sport suspension and 18" wheels the ones that look like the 19" coupe split 5 spoke wheels.

I think my stock wheel size is 18x7.5 and the OEM tire is a 235/45/18 but would a 225/45/18 fit without causing any problems? Would a 225 be too stretched on a 18x7.5? Any disadvantages or advantages to choosing a 225 over a 235 or 245?

Would a 225/40 or 225/45 be a better choice and can a 18x7.5 take between a 225 and a 245 wide tire?

Thanks

I think you may be stretching it a bit much with 225. I currently have 245/255 on my stock 18" and it looks like I could fit 265 without a problem.

You have the same 18x7.5 split spoke wheels with a 245 in the front and a 255 in the rear?

Yep. The same wheels as all 05-06 sedans with sport suspension or manual tranny. They look exactly like the ones on the black coupe pictured above to the right, only they're 18s and not staggered.

The guys at Wheel Works tried to argue that 255 was too wide, but when all was said and done, they said they fit fine.
