Need new tires for my 2004 coupe...18"

I just bought a used 2004 G35 Coupe and was looking to change the tires on the car. They are 18"
I have the Yokohama Avs es100's They have about 6,000 miles on them and I hate them.. they are a summer tire and I need something more all season.

I was told the Yokohama yk520's are the best for what I am looking for...

I am new to the site and the car and could use alittle info....

Thanks

You want an all season tire? Thats the first i have heard that. I guess not a bad thing though, to all his own I guess. But I would suggest having a set of summer and winter tires. Although I am no genious at tirs/wheels. Good luck though.

Tire rack

Tirerack.com gives you pretty good ratings and comments on tires
My 04 Coupe came with the performance tire pkg, those are Michelin Pilot Sport, they're awsome, I love them
Just go to that tirerack website it should help you choose, they have a "Tire Decision Guide" thing on there

I got the Michelin Pilot Sport All/Season. That was a very good tire. The original Pilot Sports were great, but they sucked if the temp dipped below 50 degrees, and if it was damp too, forget it, they were like ice cubes. I would've gotten winter tires, but it doesn't snow that much here, so I couldn't justify it, but it does get cold and damp quite a bit, so staying with summers wouldn't work for me eithre...

Anyways, I loved the Pilot Sport All/Season, it's just that they are one of the more expensive All/SEason tires, and they only lasted me 20,000 miles....

I'm currently running Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions. They are a little cheaper, but rated a little better traction wise. Plus they have a 40,000 mile warranty to boot. I don't expect them to last that long, so I intend to just use the pro-rated warranty for my next set of tires.

As far as grip is concerned, it didn't feel like I lost much in the way of grip going from the Pilot Sports to Pilot Sport All/Season, but it's not like I track my car or anything... But they still hug the corners very well. The RE960AS seem just as good as the Pilot Sport All/Season, but they definately have better wet traction than the Pilot Sport All/Season.

It snowed about 6" a few weeks ago, and they worked fine in the snow too.

Ca. all season tires.........?

We don't need seasonal tires in S. Ca. but I wouldn't use anything but
Michelins Pilot Sports. I've tried other brands and have been very dissapointed with how they either lasted or performed.

tires

Question to all....

How is the ride with the tires... I have a real bad humming noise on the highway and the bumps are noticable... Would these tires get rid of that or are they going to be bad no matter what....

18's arent anything compared to the 19's with sport package suspension or 20's with low profile tires

my suggestion: get a summer mid performance tire with a 5 higher profile rating and youll be satisfied, our cars weren't really made for all seasons, and there are about 3 types of all seasons made for our car (i speak of my 19's at least)
also the suspension is what makes you feel the bumps, road noise goes down as performance goes down, IMO.

I had the AVS100 on my sedan for 25000 miles and I agree they suck ***. But I just changed to the W4s and they are fantastic. Totally quiet, responsive, and a 400 treadwear rating too. Unless you plan to do track days, they should be a great all-around choice. I paid $144 for the 235/45/18 from TireRack.

I'm assuming those of us with staggered front/back wouldn't be eligible for the RE960AS mileage warranty....

Correction: RE960AS warranty depends on vendor. If they say they'll honor it with no rotation, it's a no lose proposition so check with your vendors.

I would say that for an all-season tire which can maintain some level of performance while still remaining affordable to go with the Nitto NeoGen's. People have had these suckers last a ridiculously long time (20,000 isn't unrealistic from what I've read).

Unfortunately NeoGens don't come in OEM 18s sizes, shorter sidewall only. I've liked Neos on my lowered Max, just don't fit the size perfectly.
