275/35 vs. 275/30

Can anyone with 275/30 series share their impressions? I'm debating whether to go with the 30 series or 35..its been explained to me that the 35 series is better for the car but I really like the look of the 30's. Any advice?

The 30 is too small in outer diameter. If you do the 30 with a 35 in front, the VDC and slip wont like it. The car is built in handle best with the stagger as designed in by the factory. That stagger has the OD on the front wheel being about 1" smaller than the rear. Putting a 30 on the rear, will make the fronts and rears equal in OD. You'll also have a bigger gap at the wheel well. My advice, stay with the 35 series all the way around with 19" wheels.

Re: 275/35 vs. 275/30

I'm no wheel expert but I have 245/35/20 on the fronts and 275/30/20 on the rears....the only thing I've noticed is that in really hard cornering, the VDC flashes and I feel a slight "wiggle" as the system tries to compensate for my agressiveness....other than that I have not had any issues or problems what so ever... I live in SoCal so potholes are rare but I do tend to watch for anything on or in the road more due to less rubber on the sidewalls. Something to consider with any low profile i guess. The wheels and tires look awesome! Just my 2 cents!

Stay with factory settings made for the VDC to be safe. Go 275/35 if you are going 19"

- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

If you go to http://www.michelinman.com/catalog/t...ilotSport.html

You can download a PDF that shows the tire that came with your car (if you have the sport 18 in tire). It shows the tire height and rim sizes that it will fit. Use this as a guide for selection.

I wouldn't do it. Go to the tire manufacturers website and check the recommended rim width for the size tire you want to mount. 245-255 is the widest I'd consider on the stock 8" wide wheel. Some here have mounted 275s on the stock wheel and say they have no problems, but it is not recommended. Most tire shops will not mount a tire on a rim that is not within the tire manufacturers recommendations.

On 20's - 245/35/20 f & 285/30/20 rear. (20 x 8.5 f x 20 x 10 r. Best combo to try to match as close as possible to the factory 18"'s. (Height, Sidwall, Diameter, etc).
