Question about LUG NUTS.

Ok, I've done searches, but I cannot find it.

My question is "what is the differences between a set of short and a set of extended lug nuts?"

I know there're probably answers if I looked really carefully, but I DID search the term "lug nuts" and "difference between lug nuts" without any results in this section of thread. Well, I did get about 30+ pages of results when I serached the entire forum tho'. LOL Still, after look through about first 5 pages, I didn't see anything about the above question. So, can anyone help me answer it?

Oh, and why are some of the lug nuts so expensive??? I've seen a set that cost more than $200... is it JUST because they're lighter?

Thanks in advance.
Alan

In terms of performance, there isn't really a difference between short and extended lugnuts. Extended lugnuts are really made to be used in conjunction with extended studs for extra turns so they don't shear off in track situations. Most people here use them because some wheels have very deep lug wells so shorter lugnuts are difficult to put on and don't stand out as much. As for the price, this is a combination of manufacturing technique, material, finish, and rareness. The more expensive ones aren't necessarily lighter.

Here are a couple of websites you can use
http://www.ezaccessory.com/
http://www.customwheelaccessories.com/index.html
http://www.optionimports.com/wheellugnuts.html

Enjoy!

I know rays lugs are WAY light...like .6oz... I had some on my RSX and I couldn't beleive how light they where....

you get what you pay for....kind of like rims...craftsmanship and rarity....

I personaly like the Kics porject or project Mu lugs... there 2 peice.... so they don't scratch your rims.....

So which one should I get? Does it matter even if I have standard size lug wells and use the extended ones?

I've seen many people using the Ray's lugnuts here in the forum... should I also do the same? Will they last as long as I own the set of wheels?

I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm just paranoid... LOL

Thanks anyways!

The rays duraluminum ones are light , but they are damaged easily, and the threads are easier to mess up. If you are someone that changes wheels often, then consider a set made of steel
