Tire size for 18x8 wheels 38 offset sedan?

225/45/18 or 235/45/18 (best for speedo accuracy) or 245/45/18? Not much selection at 235 size, and I am concerned with the 245 fitting w/o problems.

From my calculations, 235/40 would be the best fit...The stock tires (215/55 and 17 inch rim) would give you a total diameter of 550.05mm. The 235/40 on 18's would give you a total diameter of 551.2mm...That's about 0.2% bigger than the orginal diameter.

Opps, typo, I meant 235/45 not 40...

I'm running 235-45 18s on 18x8s with a +38 offset all around. Perfect fit in my opinion. I was running 18x8s with a +45 offset, but the front suspension clearance is extremly tight. The +38s work a lot better.

Tire selections are limited on 235/45s. I have the Continental SportContact2s.

I would recommend an 18x8.5 wheel if you're thinking about 245s. They could probably fit on an 18x8 (with a bulge), but I wouldn't personally do it.

I'd also add that if you are going to plus 1, you should take advantage of a width thats more than just 10mm greater than stock. The lower aspect ratio of an 18 tire will improve steering response, but the wider tire would give you a larger contact patch for more grip.

Added benefit is the aggressive stance. I for one don't believe in going to far from the factory setup and hence, the 235s worked well for me.

There are a lot more tire choices at 225/45/18. Speedo only off by 1.6% from stock. I'd love to go 235, but there really is only one choice.
