i'm ashamed to even be asking this but does it really matter if the rear tires are the same? I just bought some pirelli p zero's a bit ago and just had an unrepairable flat (with <3k on the tire). I just got engaged and I'm really tight on cash right now with the ring and christmas (both her bday and Valentine's are next month too).

ANYWAY my question is... what if I just bought a cheaper tire (maybe like a khumo ecsta) to replaced the damaged one. What should I expect - I've never mixed tires like that before

 

As long as it's the same size, it should be fine. The only difference would be the tread life being that one would be new and one would be used.

you could possibly have traction issues and VDC would act up, especially with the rears. Tires vary in stickiness so if the vdc system detects one tire spinning faster or slower than the others, it will kick in. I mixed michelins on the front and Bridgestone's on the back a while ago and my car didnt like that at all.

Should'nt be a problem other then an eyesore and the tackyness of having missmatch tires.
